Powerscourt Distillery Wins A World Whiskies Gold In Single Malt Category For Fercullen 'Five Elements'

Powerscourt Distillery has been awarded a World Whiskies Gold in the single malt category for its Fercullen 'Five Elements' bottle, an 18-year-old single malt limited release.

The World Whiskies Awards is an annual celebration of the very best in whiskies from across the globe. Presented by TheDrinksReport.com and Whisky Magazine, the World Whiskies Awards are one of the highlights of the year for the whiskey industry selecting, rewarding, and promoting the world’s best whiskies to consumers and trade across the globe.

Hundreds of Irish whiskeys were considered for the ultimate title of ‘World’s Best’, and Powerscourt Distillery are very pleased to have achieved a gold medal in the extremely competitive Single Malt (13-20) category.

This Single Malt was selected by the judging panel for its signature taste. Noel applied his vast experience to ensure different proportions of each style to lend balance and expression to the Five Elements within the limited release, of only 1,500 bottles, producing a truly complex, flavoursome, and unique tasting whiskey, which has now been recognised among the finest whiskies in the world with a gold medal.

The 'Five Elements' that make up the product are as follows:

1) A Single Malt, A Single Distillery, A Single Distiller.

2) Two types of oak maturation; American White Oak and European Oak.

3) Three different finishing casks; Red Wine, Ruby Port, and Rum.

4) Four styles; Bourbon, Red Wine, Ruby Port, and Rum.

5) The globally recognised touch and blending expertise of Master Distiller Noel Sweeney.

Launched in time for the Christmas market on 12 November 2020, this limited edition 18-Year-Old Single Malt Fercullen Five Elements expression was eagerly anticipated and certainly hit the right note with Fercullen fans, selling out of the initial release allocation. The distillery retained a small amount to release in time St. Patrick's Day celebrations, along with a limited edition Fercullen 16YO Cask Strength Marsala finish.
