"We all need to take a break during the day and social interaction is critical to our mental health. Mental health needs to become a key focus in the same way that we are now focused on diet and exercise. It’s a simple message but an important message all the same and a step that everyone can take.”
Frank Gleeson, Managing Director of Aramark’s Food Services division, said, “These days it’s so easy for people to get wrapped up in the day to day business challenges. Most of their day is spent in the workplace and during that time they spend more of their day engaging with computers, smartphones and tablets than they do with people. This can often leave people feeling quite isolated. So taking a quick break can help teams bond together, they can relieve stress and act as a great morale boost.”
Aramark has also opened a Grow It Yourself garden at its headquarters in Northern Cross encouraging employees to work together to nurture the garden and to use it as a wellness location for teams to take a break. A dedicated one-kilometre wellness track will also be officially opened at the company’s headquarters, and employees are being encouraged to get outside for a walk, jog or light activity during the day.
For those who wish to host their own #TAKE15 event, there are a number of ways to get involved with the campaign, visit www.aramark.ie for more information.
