Guaranteed Irish, the not-for-profit business membership organisation, will celebrate 50 years of supporting Irish businesses this month.
The organisation currently represents over 2,000 members, who employ over 120,000 people.
Established in 1974, Guaranteed Irish is dedicated to sustaining jobs and communities and has positioned itself as a national symbol for trust in business.
Economic Impact
The 2024 Guaranteed Irish Report, conducted by Red C Research, outlines the economic impact of the member organisation.
The report found that 80% of customers agree that, by buying from a Guaranteed Irish business, they are helping the Irish economy.
Almost three quarters of consumers in Ireland reported recognising the symbol. Some 90% of members said that their membership had financially benefitted their business.
Some 81% of people also stated that Guaranteed Irish stands out from other brands, due to its ethos.
That includes its support for Irish jobs, the community, and the circular economy.
‘Continued Commitment’
The annual turnover among members of the organisation is approximately €14.2 billion nationally and €52.27 billion globally.
Marking the milestone, the chief executive of Guaranteed Irish, Bríd O’Connell, said that it was an opportunity to celebrate the work of the organisation.
“Our members, who are committed to Ireland and its workforce, span indigenous businesses to locally based global leaders [and] support over 120,000 jobs throughout Ireland,” O’Connell said.
“It is through their continued commitment to supporting sustainable jobs, contributing to local communities, and commitment to Irish provenance that allows us to grow our offering, and we look forward to continuing this commitment into the future.”
To celebrate the occasion, Guaranteed Irish is launching a number of initiatives, including the 50-50-50 Competition.
The competition offers one lucky business the chance to win a communications campaign worth €50,000.
The winning business, with 50 or more employees, will run a national campaign across radio, print, digital and PR.
Other initiatives include a national marketing campaign titled ‘The Guarantee of Guaranteed Irish’.
This aims to highlight what it means to be a member of the organisation in its 50th year.
The organisation recently collaborated with An Post to release a commemorative stamp to celebrate the landmark year.
