Lyons Tea's recent Get it Off Your Chest survey has revealed that 80% of Irish consumers believe the best way to get something off their chest is over a cup of tea.
The survey also found that 29% find it most difficult to confess what’s on their minds to their mothers, and just under a third (27%) say they have trouble talking issues out because of a lack of confidence.
When it comes to which politician consumers would feel most comfortable talking things out with, Leo Varadkar was the most popular choice for 32%, while Michael Healy-Rae got 28% of the vote.
The survey results announcement coincides with the reveal of a unique confessional booth that’s been putting Irish people’s honesty to the test, with the help of Irish comedian Oliver Callan.
The #LyonsTruthBooth has been touring the country ahead of National Honesty Day, encouraging the nation to get things off their chest over a cup of tea – while the brand posts some of the juiciest confessions on its Facebook page.
Pauline Browne, Marketing Director of Lyons Tea commented, "We’ve been celebrating National Honesty Day all this week with some 'hones-tea' of our own, handing out cups of perfectly brewed tea to people across the country.
"We hope that this survey and our Truth Booth video will encourage people nationwide to take some time out from their busy schedules and get things off their chest over a delicious cuppa."
