Java Republic, which was launched by founder David McKernan in September, 1999 today announced that it is celebrating 20 years in business.
“Looking back on the last twenty years with Java Republic, it’s incredible to see how much has been accomplished,” said Grace O’Shaughnessy, managing director of Java Republic.
Some of the more high profile partnerships in 2019 include Center Parcs Longford Forest, the iNua Collection, Galway 2020 (of which Java Republic have just been announced as official coffee and tea partner) and Oberstown Children Detention Campus, the hot beverage compnay highlighted in a statement.
Also, O’Shaughnessy highlighted that this year, the group was awarded Sustainable Manufacturer of the Year at the inaugural IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards and Beverage Company of the Year at the Food & Drink Business Awards.
Referring to the awards, she said, "these are huge feats that demonstrate the success of the last two decades."
Majority Stake
In May this year, Java Republic announced that it had 'joined forces' with the family-run Spanish coffee company Cafento.
Cafento has taken a 'majority stake' in the Java Republic business, however, the company remains headquartered in Dublin.
'The Spanish coffee company will focus on growing the domestic offer in Ireland across all segments of the market, as well as finding global opportunities for the brand,' the group said in a statement at the time.
The company said that the deal will see the existing management team remain in place and work in partnership with Cafento to oversee the domestic and international expansion of the Java Republic brand.
The business is now run by Grace O’Shaughnessy and Jeffrey Long and its founder McKernan has continued working with the company in a non-executive capacity as a brand ambassador.
"This month at Java Republic we’ve been enjoying reminiscing about the last twenty years, but it’s safe to say we’re eagerly looking forward to the next twenty.” O’Shaughnessy concluded.
