Mars Ireland has announced the appointment of Brendan McLoughlin as country manager to head up its business in Ireland.
He will succeed Bill Heague in his new role.
Heague returned to his native Australia to run the Mars Food business in Australia earlier this year.
McLoughlin has 17 years’ worth of experience in the FMCG and consumer healthcare industry.
Mars' portfolio of brands in Ireland includes M&M’s, Dolmio, Pedigree and Wrigley’s Extra.
President of Mars Multisales, Michael Ryan, welcomed McLoughlin to the team and said: “His experience, leadership, knowledge of the market and commitment to building win-win relationships with retail partners stood out. I’m excited about the future of our business in Ireland.”
An Experienced Professional
McLoughlin started his career in the FMCG sector with Reckitt Benckiser as an account manager.
In 2008, he joined Johnson & Johnson and gradually climbed his way from the national account manager to the head of the pharmacy channel, where he led a talented team to consistent year-on-year growth.
In 2017, he was appointed as the country manager of Johnson & Johnson in Ireland.
He graduated in arts from NUI Maynooth and earned his MBA from Henley Business School, London.
Commenting on his appointment, McLoughlin, said, “We are spending more time at home than ever before, with many of us rediscovering home cooking, bonding with pets or enjoying more quality time with our family whether it’s watching a movie or playing a board game.
“Our brands sit at the heart of all these activities, so I am looking forward to the opportunity of helping Mars Ireland emerge from COVID-19,” he added.
