McCormack Family Farms is celebrating 40 years in business with two exciting product launches: Snack Lettuce and Watercress.
The family-owned and -operated Meath business has introduced the new products to offer customers a way to enjoy their greens in a more exciting way.
Snack Lettuce
Snack Lettuce is sweet, juicy and crunchy, with an excellent shelf life, but its design is where the real innovation lies.
The lettuce head naturally splits into distinct, boat-shaped leaves, making it ideal for making canapés or scooping a tasty dip, for example.
Snack Lettuce offers a carb-conscious option to diners, as well as being kid friendly and heat tolerant, so that the leaves don’t wilt when they come into contact with warm food.
Stephen McCormack, the managing director at McCormack Family Farms, said of the new product, “Snack Lettuce is a game-changer for healthy snacking.
“These naturally portioned leaves are ideal for dipping, scooping or filling.
“They’re perfect for anyone looking to cut carbs and use them instead of bread, and they make great healthy canapés for entertaining this summer season.
“The unique flavour profile and fun way to eat also makes them a hit with children.”
Watercress
The Watercress product is another step in McCormack’s commitment to cultivating healthy produce, by launching a product with one of the most nutrient-dense greens.
Watercress contains essential vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamins K, A and C.
Despite its high nutrient content, it is difficult for companies to produce commercially, as it usually grows in streams.
To remedy this, McCormack Family Farms built water beds with flowing water systems on its farm, so it could grow the superfood.
Speaking about the new watercress offering, the sales manager at the company, Padraic McCormack, said, “There’s a strong demand for this well-known product, which is also considered a superfood, and as the farm grows and so does our brand, we’re delighted to finally bring it to retail stores nationwide.
“We’re particularly pleased to partner with Dunnes Stores to launch both Watercress and Snack Lettuce on the 40th anniversary of our farm.”
