Müller Milk & Ingredients (MMI) has defined changes in the food service delivery operation, since the business was reportedly losing annually around £5 million.
The 45-day review had availed whether the foodservice customers-which include workplaces, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and contract caterers- could be better serviced in other ways by Müller or by alternative providers.
The operation's goal was to supply fresh milk and other products to 3,000 non-residential customers, but it is unprofitable representing less than 2% of the company’s turnover.
“Whilst the Müller Milk & Ingredients food service operation is a very small part of our overall business, it is vital that it is profitable and viable,” said Andrew McInnes, managing director at Müller Milk & Ingredients.
"We know that great customer service is a pre-requisite," added Patrick Müller, MMI's CEO.
Resolution
Consequently, Müller has confirmed the conclusion of dairy industry integration, foreseeing his strategy for the future and setting out in the value of £1.7 billion in fresh milk, cream, butter and ingredients business, also, confirming a key executive board appointment.
"We have acquired our own blow moulding facilities and we are determined to lead the agenda in plastics through increased use of recycled materials, light-weighting and to drive further innovation," said Müller.

Brian Watson, who joined business from Marmon, a $7.7 billion Berkshire Hathaway company that operates in the supermarket, was appointed as chief finance officer.
The appointment confirms completion of Dairy Crest’s dairy operations into Müller’s fresh milk operation to create Müller Milk & Ingredients, which purchases 25% of Britain’s farm gate milk.
