Musgrave MarketPlace Predicts 6% Seasonal Spike In Confectionery Sales

Musgrave MarketPlace has said that it is predicts that this year sales of crisps, chocolate and biscuits will increase by 6%, on the run up to Christmas.

The figure predicted by the national wholesaler featured as part of its ‘Christmas Made’ recently published seasonal stats campaign.

The wholesale supplier to foodservice, retail and SMEs expects to sell in the region of 46,000 boxes of Milk Tray and 839,682 bags of Tayto crisps over the period.

Between now and Christmas, the group has said that it predicts that it will sell over 20,000 tins of Jacobs biscuits and expects to sell 29,200 units of Cadbury Roses this Christmas in tub and bag form.

"As Ireland’s leading wholesale supplier to foodservice, retail and SMEs, we see a sharp rise in demand for traditional Christmas treats like crisps, chocolate, biscuits and fizzy drinks," said Ciara McClafferty, Trading Director at Musgrave MarketPlace.

"We are fully stocked up on all Christmas treats for 2019 and look forward to welcoming our customers in our branches over the next few weeks.”

The Nestlé Dairy Box selection is also expected to sell 29,728 boxes this year and Musgrave MarketPlace said that it expects to sell 2,600 cases of Jaffa Cake Yards over the festive period.
