Nestlé has announced the launch of Garden Gourmet Sensational Burger in Europe, which is an improved and meatier version of the Garden Gourmet plant-based burger.
The food giant has upgraded the recipe of Garden Gourmet burgers for the second time since its launch over a year ago.
Wayne England, head of Nestlé's food business, said, “The new Garden Gourmet 'Sensational' name evokes the senses that are stimulated by our burger: the visible transformation and aroma when cooking, the sound of it sizzling in the pan or on the grill, the great taste and texture."
The Product
The ingredients used in the burger include natural soy and wheat protein, rapeseed and coconut oil. It owes its colour to natural plant extracts.
It is fermented using a proprietary method for plant-based ingredients to boost the 'umami' flavour of the burger.
The new product has earned a Nutri-Score 'A' rating which implies that it has some of the best nutritional values among plant-based burgers in the market.
'Superior Nutritional Profile'
Torsten Pohl, the head of the Nestlé product technology centre in Singen, Germany, said, “We are focused on delivering competitive plant-based products which are both nutritious and great-tasting.
“Our experts continuously explore new technologies and recipes, to deliver a wide range of plant-based innovations that have the right texture, the right taste, as well as a superior nutritional profile."
Nestlé plans to include the term 'Sensational' in other Garden Gourmet products such as plant-based sausages and grounds in due course.
