Cork’s Ór–Real Irish Butter has announced a planned expansion of its products as 2023 sales increased by 93%, it was announced today.
Ór is adding two new products to its range in the company’s first move to expand its offering.
The new products are a smaller 227g pack and an unsalted version of its butter.
Since first launching in 2021, Ór has experienced rapid growth.
Along with increased sales, it earned a spot in the top 5 butter brands in Checkout’s Top 100 Brands 2023 among well-established brands.

North Cork Creameries produce the butter in Kanturk, Co. Cork using the traditional method of slow churning.
It is stocked across the country in retailers such as Tesco, Centra, and BWG Foods stores, among others.
The company has also revealed they are in negotiations with other Irish retailers to stock the butter.
Ór-Real Irish Butter won the butter category at the Irish Quality Food & Drink Awards for the second year in a row.
It also won in the same category at Blás na hÉireann and was recognised at the Great Taste Awards 2023.
North Cork Creameries is a farmer-owned independent cooperative that has been making butter for over 100 years.
It employs 120 locals and supports 250 farming families in North Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
‘A Huge Success Story’
The chief executive of North Cork Creameries Pat Sheahan welcomed the plans to expand Ór.
He said, “Ór–Real Irish Butter is a huge success story for us.
“We have achieved our goal of establishing it as one of the leading brands in premium foil butter nationally in a very short space of time.
“We now have over 90% distribution with our current major retailers and plan to add more in the coming months.”
Con O’Sullivan, a North Cork Creameries milk supplier said the local dynamic mixed with advancements in the company and the success of Ór has been rewarding for the farmers.
O’Sullivan said, “There is something really special about seeing Ór–Real Irish Butter on sale in shops across the country knowing that it was made using milk from our farm.”
