Snacking giant Pladis has announced that Sam Mitchell has been appointed as the general manager for McVitie’s and Cakes in the UK and Ireland.
As reported by The Grocer, Mitchell will replace James Turton, who has left the business to spend more time with his family.
Mitchell will step in as part of the UK and Ireland leadership team, reporting to managing director Nick Bunker. He will be responsible for leading the McVitie’s brand across the biscuit and cakes category.
Positive Attitude & Desire
“I’m excited to be joining Pladis, particularly as we approach the new year and new opportunities,” Mitchell said. “McVitie’s has been an iconic household name for centuries, and through Pladis’ entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to innovation and speed to market, I look forward to leading the brand and working with the team to ensure it remains that way for generations to come.”
Bunker praised Mitchell for his “positive, can-do attitude and a real desire to deliver growth across both his brands and his team”.
Mitchell has 25 years’ experience in the FMCG industry, most recently as the commercial marketing director at SHS Drinks, and was also previously the category director at Mondelez International, where he led the group’s northern & central European biscuits business.
