Tirlán has announced that has won eight awards at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards 2023 (ICDA), including gold for plant-based cheese.
The awards took place on the 30 June at the Staffordshore County Showground.
Tirlán’s recent success at this year’s ICDA in the UK, beating off competition from among over 5,000 international entries.
Longest Vegan Stretch Cheese
Among the top prizes won by Tirlán at the 2023 Awards in the UK was gold in the Longest Vegan Stretch Cheese category.
Garry Sheehan, product manager, Plant-based Cheese, said that they are thrilled to win gold in the plant-based cheese competition.
“This is the first time we’ve entered our vegan cheese in any awards and to win a gold medal on our first outing is phenomenal," he said.
"To win this award is a huge boost to the entire plant-based team and an incredible seal of approval from the international judging panel.”
Best Medium Creamery Block Cheddar
Tirlán also scooped the Volac trophy for the Best Medium Creamery Block Cheddar.
Gerry Warren, Tirlán Cheese Grader, said, “The judges commented that the texture and flavour of Tirlán cheddar really stood out.
"This is down to the top-quality milk supplied by Tirlán’s dedicated farm families. It helps them produce the highest quality, sustainable, grass-fed cheeses which win awards year after year.”
Tirlán’s portfolio includes many of Ireland’s best-known Irish dairy brands, such as Avonmore, Kilmeaden, Premier and Wexford, and international brands such as GAIN Animal Nutrition, Truly Grass Fed, and Millac and Solmiko nutritional milk proteins.
