Ireland's Eye Seafoods Ltd have revealed that the Wright seafood and restaurant group experienced a pre-tax loss of €102,589 during the year that ended on January 31, 2019.
Accounts filed by the group showed a the revneued decreased 6% to €20 million; its directors' pay increased from €471,012 to €1.07 million; the number of people employed by the firm rose from 180 to 186; and staff costs increased from €5 million to €5.2 million, during the period.
Redundancy Costs And Closures
According to The Irish Times, the directors stated that they were pleased with the company's overall performance during the period and attributed the pre-tax loss to once-off redundancy costs.
The Howth, Dublin-based company's redundancy bill is believed to be in the region of €500,000.
The directors added that the decrease in revenues was caused by the closures of a restaurant on Dublin's Dawson Street in 2017 and a retail unit at Dublin Airport in 2018.
Irish Smoked Salmon
The Wright family began smoking Irish Salmon in 1893.
The seafood company has now moved to producing Organic Irish Smoked Salmon for which it has won the Great Taste Award 2016/2017/2018 and 2019 and The Blas na hEireann 2019 Award.
