Carlsberg 0.0 has unveiled a special message of support for the ‘Girls In Green’ and Irish football fans, ahead of tomorrow’s (20 July 2023) FIFA Women’s World Cup kick-off in Australia.
Acknowledging the support of Irish fans with a nod to Australia’s cultural impact on Irish shores, a sand installation was created on Sydney’s Bondi Beach reading, ‘Best fans in the world, Home and Away? Probably #COYGIG.’
The installation, which was commissioned by the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team’s official sponsor, Carlsberg 0.0, and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), was revealed yesterday by team captain Stephanie Roche.
Speaking at the event, Roche commented, “I’m delighted to be teaming up once again with Carlsberg 0.0, this time at a very special event here on Sydney’s Bondi Beach. I hope Irish sports fans will join me in watching the opening game on Thursday and get behind the team throughout the summer! #COYGIG!”
Sean Kavanagh, commercial director, FAI, commented, “Carlsberg is one of our longest-standing partners, and we’re excited to be working together to enhance the incredible occasion for our women’s team and our fans this summer.”
‘Momentum Mission’
Linda Bradley, head of beers, Diageo Ireland, added, “We are on a mission to support the momentum behind the Women’s National Team this summer, and have teamed up with Stephanie Roche once more, to encourage fans to get behind our Girls in Green.
“We’re excited to reveal our unique message from the iconic location of Bondi Beach, and to be celebrating our team – and the fans supporting at home and in Sydney – for this historic game.”
‘The GIG’
In May, Carlsberg 0.0 teamed up with the FAI and sports bar the Square Ball in Dublin to unveil ‘the GIG’ – Ireland’s first women’s sports bar – with a dedicated weekend of women’s sports to support the Girls in Green and mark their 50th anniversary.
Carlsberg is the official beer sponsor of the Women’s National Team.
