Two of Ireland's leading coffee firms, Bewley's and Robert Roberts have won a number of awards at the 2014 Great Taste Awards, held in London earlier this week.
Robert Roberts was awarded a record haul of 17 stars at the event, which is hosted by the Guild of Fine Foods, for 13 of its coffee and tea blends. This included four two-star gold accolades for Robert Roberts’ Colombia Coffee, Fairtrade Luxury Tea, Vivaldi Espresso and Mocha Java.
“The Great Taste Awards are hugely influential in the food and drink industry and for shoppers, they are widely-recognised as an indicator of ‘the best of’ products," said Robert Roberts, Marketing Manager, Roisin O’Shea. “Our Roastery in Dublin 24 is the heart of our business and its vital that the superior quality and consistency of our coffees and teas is communicated to our retail and foodservice customers. The Great Taste Awards enables us to do this as its judging process is completely independent and very robust.”
Bewley's was appointed 12 Gold Stars, with Bewley's Irish Breakfast Tea, Dublin Morning Tea, Irish Afternoon Tea, and Bewley’s Kenya and Espresso Fresh Ground Coffee among the winners.
“We’re delighted that for the 8th year in a row, Bewley’s teas and coffees have been recognised by the Guild of Fine Food for their exceptional quality and taste," said Mark Saunders, Bewley’s Brand Director. "As Ireland’s leading tea and coffee company, we are very proud that our products, judged by our peers, continue to excel on the international stage.”
