Diageo has announced that Melissa Bethell will become a non-executive director of the company on 30 June.
Bethell, who will also join Diageo's audit, nomination and remuneration committees upon her appointment, is the managing partner of investment firm Atairos Europe, the Guinness owner said.
'Broad Range of Experience'
She previously worked in various roles at global private equity firm Bain Capital for over 18 years.
Before joining Bain Capital, Bethell worked as an analyst in the Fixed Income Capital Markets group at Goldman Sachs.
"I am confident that, with her background and broad range of experience," said Javier Ferrán, chairman, Diageo.
He added, "she will bring unique insight and expertise to the board's deliberations, which will benefit the board and the business as we progress to achieving our ambition to become one of the most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world."
Bethell is also currently a non-executive director of both Tesco plc and Exor (EXO.MI), and was non-executive director of Atento until November of 2018.
