The Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI) has congratulated the Dingle Whiskey Distillery which was awarded Overall Best in World at the World Gin Awards Ceremony 2019, which took place in London last night.
“We’d like to congratulate all the team at the Dingle Whiskey Distillery for this wonderful accomplishment, which is another sign of Irish gin going from strength to strength on the highly competitive international stage," said Patricia Callan, Director of Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI).
“It’s demonstrates how quality and authenticity is helping brands like Dingle Gin to stand out."
Irish Gin Growth
In 2018, Irish gin grew in both the domestic and export markets.
There are now over 20 gin producers and over 50 gin brands in Ireland, with 12 new brands introduced in 2018.
“The value of exports of Irish gin from the Republic of Ireland was up 260% in 2018," said Callan.
“As the Irish gin supply base expands in response to global trends, double-digit growth was recorded in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Italy and Germany.”
