Guinness & Co. has announced the winners to its Arthur Guinness Projects 2013. The projects were selected from four categories - music, sport, arts and food, and were picked to celebrate the people whose ideas, passion and spirit shape and enhance the Irish culture and identity.
Amongst the winners were ‘Our Nations Son’- a project encouraging the empowerment of potentially marginalized young men in the community, ‘The Aerial Dance Creation’ – a dedicated space for aerial and circus arts to develop and rehearse and ‘Man on Bridge’ – a celebration of photographer Arthur Fields who took 182,000 photographs of passers-by on O’Connell Bridge in Dublin over 50 years.
Stephen O’ Kelly, Marketing Director, Guinness said, “We have been really struck by the quality of the entries with no shortage of amazing ideas right across the four categories. Passion, flair and creative spirit were clearly evident and today, we pay special tribute to the winning projects.”
The entrants were voted for by the public, and then narrowed down to winners by an expert panel of 16 judges including musicians The Script, actor Chris O’Dowd, food guru Dylan McGrath and sports consultant Jim McGuinness. The winners will receive financial and mentoring assistance for six months.
