The 35th annual Guinness Jazz Festival runs this weekend in Cork city until Monday 28th October. The event will draw approximately 40,000 people to to over 400 gigs in 47 venues, as well as a Fringe programme.
The Jazz festival is worth an estimated €7 million to the local economy and is one of the most renowned jazz festivals in Europe. The acts will include saxophone legend Courtney Pine, Danish Indie group Efterklang, soul and funk hit makers Chic as well as double bills from major artists including Soul II Soul Sound System with neo-soul star Bilal, jazz drumming legend Billy Cobham with the Portico Quartet and Snarky Puppy with the Mingus Big Band. Another big name is alt-rock group Primal Scream.
