Guinness Transforms Beermats Into Postcards For Charity

This Christmas, Guinness is transforming beermats into postcards to deliver festive greetings from over 100 pubs across the country to friends and family, at home and abroad, with the help of An Post.

Participating pubs include O’Connell’s in Co. Galway, Toners and Bonobo in Dublin, Left Bank Co. Kilkenny and J. O’Connell’s pub in Co. Meath, the pub that features in the Guinness White Christmas TV ad.

“The pub and the post office are part of the community in Ireland – especially at this time of year," said Alan McAleenan of Guinness.

"Christmas is all about connecting with friends and family so we were delighted to work with An Post and ALONE to turn our Guinness beermats into Christmas cards to help consumers connect with friends and loved ones, at home and abroad”.

Upon purchasing a pint of Guinness, Pubgoers will receive a complimentary postcard and for every card sent through An Post, Guinness will make a donation to Alone.

Guinness said that the fund raising initiative is to support Alone's work in ensuring older people are not left isolated and lonely this Christmas.

“Christmas is An Post’s busiest time of year, when we are delivering cards and parcels, to and from loved ones round the world," Garrett Bridgeman, managing director of Mails and Parcels, An Post.

"The Guinness Postcard is another reminder to take a moment to send a special handwritten message, whether near or far this Christmas.”

Many of the participating pubs will also carry 'post boxes' so consumers won't have to leave their local to send a card.
