Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin was recently voted "Best Gin" at the prestigious 2019 Flaviar Spirit Awards in New York.
Flaviar is one of the world’s most competitive drinks contests, which awards "Best Spirit gongs" to only five of the 22,000 eligible premium spirits brands each year.
Historial Win
'This is the first time in the history of the Flaviar awards that an Irish Gin brand has won a ‘Best Spirit Award’ and claimed the Best Gin title,' the spirits brand said in a statement.
“Once you taste Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin you can absolutely see why are members are raving about it - It’s a real explosion of flavour in a bottle,” said Jugoslav Petkovic, co-founder, Flaviar.
'Early Predictors'
The significance of the award for the Irish Gin brand is 'not merely honorary' – the Flaviar awards are considered 'early predictors' of which spirits brands are set to trend globally.
Flaviar is the world’s leading online spirits enthusiasts club and the winning brands are selected from over 90,000 ratings submitted from thousands of dedicated premium spirits consumers from the USA, Europe and across the world.
The Leitrim based distiller said that the latest win is welcome new for the Drumshanbo team at The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney, where Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is slow-distilled by hand with oriental botanicals and Gunpowder Tea.
