Heineken Ireland has released a 2016 performance update, announcing positive growth in both the on trade and off trade channels: Particularly, its share of the Long Alcohol Drinks (LADs) market grew by 0.8%.
The 2016 Irish beer and cider market grew by 2.1% overall in 2016, with beer volumes increasing 1.5% and cider recovering from its 2015 decline to grow 6.5% in 2016.
Heineken’s brand share growth was supported by the successful introduction of Heineken Light, according to the announcement. Heineken’s cider offering Orchard Thieves also contributed, capturing 10.3% of the total cider market. It is now the number two cider brand in both channels.
Maggie Timoney, Managing Director of Heineken Ireland, commented on the results: “2016 saw growth for Heineken Ireland across both the On Trade and Off Trade Channels. Our share of Long Alcohol Drinks market grew by 0.8%, driven by growth in Heineken and a strong innovation performance, led by Orchard Thieves.”
Coors Light also saw growth of 0.4%, and like-for-like revenues for Heineken Ireland increased by 4%, due to changes in its wholesale business.
