Powerscourt Distillery has announced chef Catherine Fulvio visited its home to film a special segment for her Catherine Celebrates Christmas RTÉ 1 TV show, which will air on Tuesday 21 December at 7pm.
Fulvio visited Powerscourt Distillery, where she met Gerry Ginty, co-founder and chief operating fficer, who brings us on a tour of the distillery and tells us how it all began.
She then met in-house Food Historian and Food and Beverage specialist Santina Kennedy.
Different Flavours
Kennedy guided her on different flavours that are enhanced by having with different types of Whiskey from the Powerscourt Distillery.
As a champion of local and Irish food producers, Kennedy has perfectly matched the 8-year-old, 10-year-old and 14-year-old award winning Fercullen whiskeys with some of the food pairings.
Kennedy said of the experience, "Being showcased as part of the wonderful food and drinks experience Co. Wicklow has to offer is integral to what we are about at Powerscourt Distillery."
"As the in-house Food & Beverage specialist and Food Historian with a passion for Irish food history and hospitality, I could have chatted with Catherine [Fulvio] all day as another champion of the county's produce," she added.
‘Christmas In A Glass’
Following her class in all things whiskey Catherine will show viewers how to create ‘Christmas in a glass’ with an Irish Manhattan Cocktail and a Manhattan Mocktail.
