Teeling Whiskey has won the ‘World’s Best 24-Year-Old Single Malt' award at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards.
Teeling is the first Irish whiskey to win the award, which it received in London on Thursday 28th March.
The company overcame fierce competition from renowned whiskey industry leaders from Scotland and Japan to take the number one prize.
“To be honoured as the World’s Best Single Malt and in the process become the first Irish whiskey to ever have achieved such worldwide acclaim is very humbling and reflects the global resurgence and revival of both Teeling and Irish whiskey,” Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey said.
“We are now right back at the top table of global whiskey and we look forward to continuing leading this new golden era for Irish whiskey.
“Since reviving our old family trademark of Teeling Whiskey back in 2012 we have endeavoured to make sure every bottle of Irish whiskey we release with our family name on it is of the highest quality.”
Incredible Achievement
The recognition was also welcomed by the Irish Whiskey Association, who congratulated Teeling Whiskey on its achievement.
“To receive an award of such high esteem at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards this year is an incredible achievement for Teeling Whiskey,” William Lavelle, Head of the Irish Whiskey Association, said.
“It is a testament to the quality and excellence of its whiskey range and the hard work and dedication of the team involved to produce this world-class Single Malt.”
