Five families were taken on a tour of the Keelings Strawberry Farm on Friday, 10 April, where they were given the chance to pick their own strawberries and the opportunity to find ‘golden strawberries’ worth €1,000 each.
Four families were chosen on 2FM’s Rick O’Shea Show, while the fifth was found through Facebook campaigning, to get a unique look at the Keelings operation in north county Dublin.
They knew they were going to pick strawberries, but were unaware of the €1,000 prizes for finding a golden strawberry.
Speaking on the event, David Keeling said, “We were delighted to welcome the families out to our farm in celebration of our First Irish Strawberry of the season.”
He added that grower Ogor Chpak was on hand to show the children how to tell if a berry is ripe and that, “The kids had great fun picking their own Irish strawberries and there was even more excitement when each of the families found the golden strawberry in their row.”
