Fresh: The Good Food Market Unveils 'Free Fruit' Initiative

Fresh: The Good Food Market has unveiled an initiative that will offer parents the opportunity to treat their children to a free piece of fruit while they shop.

The 'Free Fruit for Kids' initiative will be rolled out at the five stores operated by the Dublin-based group, at Grand Canal Dock, Smithfield, Camden Street, Mayor Street and Belarmine.

Fresh managing director Noel Smith said that the group was introduced to the concept in the US, and "immediately knew it was something we could adopt for our group."

Smith added, "As an organisation we are constantly working towards adding value to the customer experience in our stores. […] In our stores, we see parents every day making healthier choices for their children so this is just a simple way of Fresh making the shopping experience even more healthier and enjoyable."

Other retailers around the world have introduced a 'Free Fruit for Kids' scheme in the past – Tesco trialled a similar scheme in Glasgow last November, as did Woolworths in Australia. Selected Kroger outlets in the US have also introduced the scheme.
