European fresh produce company, Total Produce plc has acquired a 50% shareholding of Canadian produce company Gambles Group. This marks the fourth North American investment for Total Produce plc.
Toronto-based Gambles Group distributes local and imported produce throughout Ontario, and is operated out of the Ontario Food Terminal and a 65 000 sq ft distribution facility in Toronto. Its 2014 sales were CAD$170m and it employs over 280 staff.
Carl McCann, Chairman of Total Produce commented, "This transaction further broadens our North American operations. We look forward to working with the excellent people in Gambles over the coming years."
Jeff Hughes, President of the Gambles Group added, "We are very happy to partner with the Total Produce Group.
