Fyffes has confirmed today (3 March) that it will be returning to the Agri Careers fair on 30 March in the RDS, where it will launch its 2017 Graduate Programme, which includes work experience on a tropical fruit farm.
The selected students will be offered a two-years work placement which would include the chance to travel and gain first hand experience working on one of Fyffes banana, melon or pineapple farms in Central America. There they will gain an in-depth knowledge of the tropical fruit supply chain through their work on-the-ground in the region.
Speaking to Checkout William Faulkner, Head of Human Resources said, "Applicants who are accepted on our programme get the opportunity to experience all the challenges we face in bringing our products to the shelves in perfect condition, from soil preparation to seeding, production, harvesting, packaging, logistics, ripening, quality control and distribution."
The new tropical fruit importer's Graduate Management Programme, is 'geared towards those pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture, agribusiness, agri-technology, engineering or forestry.
Upon their successful completion of the programme, it is planned that graduates will be offered permanent positions working with Fyffes in a choice of global locations.
