Keelings is celebrating its first harvest of Irish strawberries so far this year. The fruit company spent four years testing the variety and growing system, allowing it to sell Irish strawberries three weeks earlier, in time for St Patrick’s weekend.
David Keeling commented, “We’re delighted to be the first Irish growers bringing home-grown strawberries to stores this week.
"As they were such a hit last year, this season we have increased the volume of our exclusive early spring variety. The strawberries taste and look fantastic, exactly what you’d expect from Keelings First Harvest Irish Strawberries.”
In order to ensure customer satisfaction, Keelings makes sure that once harvested, the strawberries are stored in controlled atmospheric and chilled conditions.
The cold stores’ quality is constantly monitored, and samples are regularly tested so that the strawberries are delivered in the best possible condition.
Keelings Irish strawberries will be available in store from the 14th of March.
