Tesco Ireland Announces The Return Of The ‘Avozillas’

Tesco Ireland has announced that, 'due to popular demand', a limited supply of ‘Avozillas’ which will be available to purchase from tomorrow Saturday (14 September).

The giant avocados first made an appearance on the shelves in Tesco stores across Ireland at the same time last year.

Despite being five times the size of a standard avocado Avozillas are 'naturally produced and not genetically modified'.

“This limited stock of ‘Avozillas’ is exclusive to Tesco," John Brennan, director of Fresh Food, Tesco Ireland said.

Extremely Rare

The giant avocados are grown in a forest outside of Modjadjiskloof, Limpopo the retailer explained.

"They are extremely rare and come from just four trees grown by one of the world’s biggest suppliers of avocados in South Africa."

The Avozilla is reportedly a cross between two types of avocado; the West Indian and Guatemalan varieties.

Priced at €4 and exclusive to Tesco in Ireland, the giant avocados are available until stocks last from 70 Tesco stores around the country.
