Greengate Biogas Appoints New CEO To Lead Ireland’s Decarbonisation

Greengate Biogas has announced the appointment of Andrew Bernard as its new chief executive officer, with immediate effect.

Bernard will lead the senior management team and oversee all aspects of governance and legal and shareholder duties for the company, which is a pioneer developer in the biomethane sector.

In announcing the appointment, Greengate Biogas noted, ‘[Bernard’s] deep industry knowledge and his global network position him perfectly to drive Greengate Biogas towards achieving its ambitious goals.’

With more than two decades of experience in the renewable energy sector, Bernard brings to the role a wealth of experience, along with his dedication to delivering commercial and operational excellence in the circular-economy and recycling sectors.

He has also accrued significant experience in complex energy and waste management businesses.

‘Incredibly Exciting’

Prior to joining Greengate Biogas, Bernard founded and served as the principal consultant of Biscayne Consulting Ltd, in the UK.

The consultancy provided strategic business and commercial development advice to clients, with a focus on alternative proteins, waste management, logistics, and renewable energy products.

He also served as the specialist innovation and technology advisor for an EY consortium to the Republic of Cyprus’s government, focusing on renewable energy systems, CO2 reduction, and sustainable waste and water recovery initiatives.

Speaking about his appointment, Bernard said, “I am honoured to join Greengate Biogas at such a pivotal time for both the company and the renewable energy sector in Ireland.
