Heineken Ireland today announced the appointment of Maarten Schuurman as its new managing director, effective from 1 September 2018.
Schuurman joined Heineken in 1996, as a management trainee.
He will join the Irish business from his current role as head of global sales, based in the company’s international headquarters, in the Netherlands.
For the past three years, Schuurman has shaped and delivered Heineken’s global sales agenda, including revenue management and e-commerce across all continents.
During his 22-year career, he has held several finance and commercial roles in Heineken Netherlands, including that of managing director of Heineken’s operating companies in Suriname, South America, and Burundi, in East Africa.

Schuurman will succeed Maggie Timoney, who has been appointed chief executive officer of Heineken USA, following five years as managing director of Heineken Ireland.
Timoney will take over as chief executive officer in the US from Dutchman Ronald den Elzen on 1 September, later this year.
In 2013, she succeeded David Forde, who was appointed managing director of Heineken’s UK operations at the time.
Heineken Ireland has been based in Cork since 1856 and boasts an Irish portfolio that includes Heineken, Beamish, Murphy’s, Coors Light and Orchard Thieves, as well as a full range of specialty beers.
