Following November’s announcement, most retailers will be aware of the February 2024 launch date for the nation’s first Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).
Additionally, you may have heard about Reverse Vending Machines, which are set to grow in popularity as a solution to help retailers comply with this new legislation.
“Some retailers are taking the initiative and are looking upon the scheme as an opportunity to attract new customers,” says Stephen Bailey of RVM Systems Ireland.
“With offices in Dublin, and local engineers offering nationwide support, RVM Systems Ireland is assisting retailers by guiding them through the steps to prepare for the DRS start date, allowing store owners to easily understand their obligations.
“RVM Systems Ireland can present the various RVM automated solutions supported by the option of a simple lease or purchase solution. We make the process painless for the retailer, helping them to select the best machine to provide the required capacity while minimising the cost.
“We pride ourselves on our in-store staff training, our level of technical support, and our advanced technology. Our engineers can remotely access the machines to mitigate downtime. You don’t want your customers travelling to another retail store because your RVM has a queue or isn’t working. That’s where our technology stands out.”
Diverse Range
RVM Systems Ireland offers a diverse range of reverse vending machines, and Bailey lists several characteristics which, he explains, distinguish RVM Systems from its rivals.
“We use advanced processing and compactor equipment that is optimised for mixing cans and PET bottles in one bin, taking up less room in the store and costing on average 30% less,” he says.
“Our machines also feature interactive screens with up to 21.5 inches that can play films and advertisements, giving the retailer more opportunities for advertising and in-store promotions. Our machines may also be quickly configured to interface with mobile apps, loyalty programmes, and cloud-based services.
"Our Modular Proline and Mega bulk feed machines are expandable, allowing extra cabinets/bins to be added at a later stage, so retailers don’t need to over-invest. To measure usage continuously and effortlessly, all of our systems additionally use secure telemetry software that transmits precise throughput volumes and bottle types to the store's servers or the Deposit Return Scheme Operator.”
Suits All Retail Channels
RVM Systems Ireland has machines to suit all retail channels, including supermarket and convenience, public spaces, canteens and forecourt operations.
It is supported by the expertise of its parent company, RVM Systems SA, which is headquartered in Sweden and is a main supplier of reverse vending machines and high-speed counting solutions to Deposit Return Schemes and projects in over 40 markets around the world.
