Smurfit WestRock Makes Debut At New York Stock Exchange

On 5 July, Smurfit WestRock plc announced its debut on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), under the ticker ‘SW’ – the combination of Smurfit Kappa and WestRock.

The company also has a standard listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), under the ticker ‘SWR’.

A global leader in sustainable packaging, Smurfit WestRock operates in 40 countries and taps into the expertise of over 100,000 people.

Smurfit Kappa, the Irish packaging company, completed a previously announced merger with American WestRock this week, to expand their combined offering of packaging solutions around the world.

Trading under Smurfit WestRock began on the LSE on Monday at 8am BST, and on the NYSE at 9.30am EDT, following a bell-ringing ceremony.

Speaking about the company’s recognition at the NYSE, the chief executive of Smurfit WestRock, Tony Smurfit, said, “Combining Smurfit Kappa and WestRock creates a world-leading sustainable packaging player, bringing together a tremendous depth of experience and expertise from both companies.

The chief financial officer of the company, Ken Bowles, added, “The shareholders of both Smurfit Kappa and WestRock have overwhelmingly supported our combination.
