Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI) has officially been named as the new operator of the National Lottery in Ireland following the payment of a final instalment towards the licence fee and a successful transition.
The company’s shareholders are the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), An Post and An Post Pension funds. PLI has already invested in the development of the National Lottery, through 4,000 New Photon Terminals available in retail stores nationwide. A number of improved options are available to play online through mobiles and tablets.
Dermot Griffin, Chief Executive, Premier Lotteries Ireland, said: “PLI is committed to responsibly grow the National Lottery over the next 20 years and to guaranteeing ongoing support for good causes across Ireland.” Funding from the €405 million licence fee have been allocated by the Government to a variety of social projects including the 1916 Commemoration Projects and the Limerick City of Culture 2014.
