Five producers who took part in the recent Grow with Aldi Programme will have their products stocked on the retailer’s shelves nationwide, starting from January 2019.
Each supplier was one of 38 that won a place on the programme, developed in partnership with Bord Bia, with the five winners being announced last week in the Aldi marquee at the National Ploughing Championships.
Grow With Aldi
A total of 71 new Irish products, produced by 38 Irish suppliers from across the country were selected by Aldi. The five of the successful products will now become core line Aldi listed products.
The five winning producers are:
Maurice Gilbert from Ballyhoura Apple Farm (Limerick) – Pure Raw Apple Cider Vinegar.
Paul Moore from Rebel Chilli (Cork) – Red Rebel Chilli.
Nigel & Magaly Murray from Gran Grans (Galway) – Lemon Marmalade.
Rob Horgan & Jen Ramsbottom from Velo Coffee (Cork) – Whole Bean & Ground Coffee.
Julian Burns from Lullaby Milk (Cork) – Lullaby Milk.
Grow with Aldi is designed to help small to medium Irish food and drink businesses secure a retail listing with a national retailer.
Participants receive tailored mentoring and access to workshops with Aldi buyers, with Bord Bia experts teaching them the skills to help grow and develop their products and business.
The campaign is the discount retailer’s move to source as much Irish produce as possible. Aldi said that it is investing €500,000 in the programme this year.
