Aldi Ireland’s Specially Selected Irish Buffalo Mozzarella Pearls out-shone 5,000 different cheeses from across the globe at the annual International Cheese & Dairy Awards this year.
The German-based discount retailer, which gets its supplies from Macroom Buffalo Mozzarella, picked up a silver award for the West Cork cheese.
Aldi’s Group Buying Director John Curtin said that the award “is further proof that Aldi not only offers the best dairy products in Ireland, but some of the very best in the world”.
“Well done to everyone involved and particularly our supplier, Macroom Buffalo Mozzarella. The quality of their products is second to none.”

It has been a productive summer for Aldi Ireland’s own-brand Specially Selected range after its Irish Angus Fillet Steak also won the World’s Best Fillet at the World Steak Challenge 2019.
Aldi has been attracting new customers in Ireland every year with its range of award-winning products, which have been recognised with top honours at events such as the Great Taste Awards, Blás na hEireann Awards and the Irish Quality Food Awards.
The retailer has focused on growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of Irish products available in its stores.
Aldi has already invested more than €1 million in the Grow with Aldi programme, which offers up-and-coming artisan Irish food and drink producers the chance to have their products listed in-store.
