The latest figures released yesterday by Kantar Worldpanel confirmed that Aldi Ireland experienced it's busiest Christmas ever, cementing it's position as Ireland's fastest growing retailer. In a statement issued by the retailer its year-on-year sales increased by 5.3% for the 12 week period ending 1st January, 2017.
According to Finbar McCarthy, Group Buying Director, Aldi Ireland, “We welcome the latest Kantar Worldpanel figures which confirm Aldi Ireland’s excellent trading performance during the Christmas period, with our sales surging ahead by 5.3% for the 12 week period ending 1st January, 2017, cementing our position as Ireland’s fastest growing retailer.”
The retailer attracted 37,000 new shoppers during the 2016 Christmas period.
“This was Aldi Ireland’s busiest Christmas ever as we welcomed thousands of new customers to our stores, with more Irish consumers doing their Christmas shop at Aldi than ever before. We attracted 37,000 new customers in December 2016 compared with the same period in 2015. Our extensive Christmas range offered unbeatable value, ensuring families enjoyed the best Christmas possible at the best price.”
