Coca-Cola was the biggest spender on outdoor advertising in the Food & Drink category in June 2016, according to the latest Posterwatch report from PML Group.
The drinks brand accounted for approximately €309k worth of spend, with its football giveaway campaign. Coca-Cola was just ahead of its nearest competitors in Lucozade Energy, which accounted for €281k and last month's table topper 7Up Free Mojito, which takes third place for June with a spend of approximately €254k.
Other big spenders during the period included Avonmore Supermilk (€187k worth of spend), Barry's Tea (€165k worth of spend), and Robinsons Squash'd (€138k worth of spend).
In terms of categories, the Retail Outlets category once again accounted for the highest level of Outdoor spend for the month (€1.7 million) thanks to big campaigns from Tesco(€347k) and Lidl(€202k). Elsehwere, Beers & Ciders, which accounted for €1.26m worth of spend, finished in 3rd place, Food, which accounted for €1.02 million, finished in 4th, and Soft Drinks took 5th with €1.01 million worth of spend.
Amy Burke, marketing executive at PML Group said; "The retail sector continues to perform well on Out of Home as Retail Outlets were once again the highest spending category on Out of Home for June, followed by Films and Soft Drinks.
"Retail Outlets had a significant market share of 11% in June, with supermarket chains being the strongest subcategory for the month. Lidl, Tesco and SuperValu all ran Outdoor campaigns and both SuperValu’s and Tesco’s OOH promotions included media firsts."
