Did you know?... McDonald's has announced that it is planning to launch its first ever vegan meal on 2 January. The fast food chain's new 'Veggie Dippers' will consist of red pepper, rice, sun-dried tomato pesto and split peas surrounded by breadcrumbs, and have been accredited as vegan by The Vegetarian Society.

Did you know?... Carrefour Italia has signed an agreement with Conad, to acquire 28 Auchan stores in the Lombardy region in Italy for an undisclosed amount, reports suggest. Most of the stores are of proximity format, with the sales area ranging between 150 and 600 square meters.

Did you know?... Finnish dairy company Valio has taken part in a research project headed by the VTT Technical Research Centre, to create a prototype for a personalised food dispensary product. The aim of the project was to asses the viability of creating a personalised food products.

Did you know?... Denmark's Salling Group has announced that it has removed own-brand products containing eggs sourced from caged hens, from its Netto, Føtex, and Bilka stores. Eggs from caged hens were being used in a wide range of processed products such as pasta, cookies, and mayonnaise.

Did you know?... Pub operator JD Wetherspoon Plc has announced that it is planning to spend more than £200 million on the development of between 50 and 60 new pubs and some new hotels, as well as on the expansion of existing ones, in Ireland and the UK.
