Despite a difficult period marketed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the retailer closed 2020 with a gross turnover of €909 million, up 8.9% on the previous year. During the past year, Spar Slovenia continued to expand its network with the addition of three new stores – including the Aleja shopping center in Ljubljana, the SPAR Radenci supermarket and the SPAR Logatec hypermarket.

According to research data analysed and published by Stock Apps, the company's digital sales increased by 45% year-on-year in 2020 to $17 billion, and its Q4 2020 revenue increased by 3% year-over-year (YoY) to $1.74 billion, which was higher than an expected $1.72 billion. Yum Brands launched a series of initiatives to speed up its digitalisation process in 2020. A new e-commerce ecosystem streamlined off-premises order handling for KFC, and, as a result, transaction times at the window decreased by 16 seconds in Q4 2020 compared to Q4 2019.
