Did You Know … Coop Switzerland is to sell insect-based burgers and meatballs? The retailer plans to expand the offer, which is the product of start-up company Essento, assuming it is popular with customers.

Did You Know … UK retailer Tesco has announced that it will be selling miniature avocados, as well as the regular-sized varieties, for a limited time. The smaller fruit, which is about the same size as an egg, will be sold in packs of six in a recyclable egg-style box.

Did You Know … Lidl Northern Ireland is to include a mountain rescue base in its new store in Newcastle, Co.Down? The site is at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and will offer the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team with a space for its lifesaving services alongside a supermarket.

Did You Know … A tweet by US president Donald Trump wiped $5 billion off Amazon’s valuation last week? The president criticized the company for “doing great damage to tax-paying retailers” in America.

Did You Know … Brown Thomas has opened its Christmas Shop as of Thursday, August 17, last week? Based in its department stores in Dublin, Cork and Limerick, the shops showcase decorations, trees and gift ideas in a festive theme.

Did You Know … Smithwicks is renewing its sponsorship of TradFest for 2018? The partnership has been in place since 2013, when Smithwicks first supported Dublin’s traditional Irish music, folk and Celtic music festival.

Did You Know … Avocado thieves in New Zealand have turned to Facebook to sell their ill-gotten goods? With high demand for the fruit both locally and globally, thieves have been raiding orchards at night and selling their loot on the social media website.

Did You Know … HB ice Cream is partnering with Fulfil to produce The HB Happyful Yoghurt? The yoghurt will combine fresh-cut fruit, soft-served ice cream and pieces of Fulfil’s best-selling protein bar Peanut and Caramel.

Did You Know … Propercorn has launched a collaboration with Dublin nail bar Tropical Propical? The popcorn company will have a Find Your Flavour nail art menu at the nail bar for the next two months, and all customers who choose from the menu will receive a pack of popcorn too.
