An agricultural economist, Professor Hennessy joins UCC from Teagasc, where she was head of Agricultural Economics research for the last ten years. The Department is part of the Cork University Business School (CUBS), and undertakes teaching and research in the subjects of food business, marketing, and development.
Did You Know … Tesco UK is under suspicion for overcharging customers on multi buy offers? An undercover reporter for the BBC found two-thirds of visited stores overcharged. The retailer is consequently re-evaluating the price of every item in its 3,500-plus stores in the UK.
Did You Know … The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has placed a closure order on the Polonez supermarket on Moore Street, Dublin. Alongside the retailer, the FSAI also served closure orders on two take aways in Limerick and Meath, a restaurant in Dublin, and a service sector manufacturing unit in Cork.
Did You Know … The ISPCC along with Catherine Buggy of Boutique Bake is launching a Raise the Dough campaign. Raise the Dough is a fundraiser for Childline that is encouraging everyone to ‘get their bake on’ for Easter. The campaign will launch in DIT, Cathal Brugha Street, on 16 February. Catherine Buggy will perform a live cooking demonstration for the media there.
