Did You Know... Topaz has announced that it raised a total of €360,000 over the course of its three-year partnership with charity Aware? The charity works with volunteers to provide support, education and information services to people affected by depression. The funds were raised through a number of areas, including forecourt fundraisers across the company’s service stations and the Play or Park loyalty programme.
Did you know… Ornua chief executive Kevin Lane believes milk price volatility will continue in the market for at least the next six months? Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Lane said, “The better farmers and the better processors will have to be able to manage their business with that volatility because it is going to be there and it is ever more pronounced.”
Did You Know... Spar UK’s managing director, Debbie Robinson has raised the possibility of introducing a Spar-branded range of edible insects in the future? She told delegates at the recent Appleby Westward trade show that insects will eventually fill the need for cheap protein. Speaking to Convenience Store magazine, Robinson suggested that Spar could embrace the trend in time.
Did You Know... This summer sees forecourt retailer Maxol sponsoring seven different festivals nationwide? The sponsorships include the Irish Maritime Festival in Louth, the Killarney Music and Food Festival and the Groove Music Festival in Wicklow. The company says the heavy festival presence is part of its ‘Fuelling Your Summer’ campaign, which gives Maxol customers the chance to get VIP entrance to the events with in store competitions.

Alongside five-person tents for €89.99, shoppers can also pick up a portable hammock with stand for €49.99 and range of outdoor dining equipment including coolers and portable grills. The range will be available in Aldi outlets from 25 June.

Did You Know... Hilden Irish Stout, brewed in Antrim, has been names among the Top 10 British Beers ahead of Beer Day Britain, the annual celebration of the UK’s best brews? Jane Peyton, Britain’s 2014 Beer Sommelier of the Year described the drink as a “mature tasting stout, with a tasty combination of roasted barley and hops that give a full -bodied chocolate and coffee flavour”.
