Did You Know … Rucksnacks has won the Blas na hEireann Best UCC Packaging Innovation Award? Rucksnacks is a grass-fed beef jerky snack developed by Monaghan farmer Colm Connolly. It is available online and in selected SuperValu stores in Monaghan.

Did You Know … Lidl is planning a ‘state of the art’ store in the largely vacant Shankill Shopping Centre? While a price hasn't been disclosed, the centre was recently valued by its owners at more than €8.7 million.

Did You Know … the number of dairy cows in December is expected to decline in the EU-15 by 0.5% in comparison with 2015? This decrease, combined with a 3% increase in the first half of 2016, is expected to leave whole year EU milk collection 0.6% (800,000t) above 2015. The Member States that will contribute most in volume terms to the increase in milk production are the Netherlands, Ireland and Italy.

Did You Know … Barry & Fitzwilliam has introduced Hugo Spritz into the on- and off-trades in Ireland? Elderflowers, water, lemon and sugar are carefully blended and left to rest. The resulting syrup is then added to prosecco to make Hugo Spritz.

Did You Know … Waterford’s family-run coffee roaster, Coffee House Lane, is on the move to bigger premises? Moving from a 2,000 square foot premises in Kilcohan Industrial Complex to a new 6,000 square foot home at the IDA Northern Extension, the move will enable increased production, create employment, expansion into new export markets and development of new coffee blends.

Did You Know … Dublin based protein bar company Fulfil is aiming to increase sales to 40 million bars next year? By the end of this year, the business will have sold 15 million bars in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Britain. Fulfil has plans to expand to Germany, Sweden and Ukraine.
