Lidl Ireland has partnered with Diabetes Ireland to provide free diabetes screenings for the stores staff and customers.
It outlined that it will provide the screenings on a custom-built double-decker bus across the country as a part of its health and wellness roadshow.
Reportedly, 5,000 members of the supermarket giant's workforce can avail of the service at warehouses and regional offices across 92 locations across Ireland, while customers will also be able to avail of the service at ten different supermarkets over the next two months.
Maeve McCleane, HR director for Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, said it will invest €300,000 in the project.
“By investing this sum of money we are sending out a clear message to our team that we are invested in their health and wellbeing,” she said.
McClean said that since it has 1.5 million shoppers per week it is delighted to partner with Diabetes Ireland to offer free diabetes screening to its customers at the same time.
"Together we hope to raise awareness of the risk factors and encourage more people to reflect on their lifestyle.” She added.
