Extra Spend Of €4 On Irish Christmas Goods, Could Mean 6,000 New Jobs

Recent research conducted on behalf of Guaranteed Irish in association with Amárach Research indicated that spending an extra €4 a week on Guaranteed Irish goods and services this Christmas could create up to 6,000 new jobs.

According to a statement, the business memembership organisation is 'calling on consumers to purchase gifts and foods from its member businesses'.

Brid O’Connell, CEO of Guaranteed Irish said that the average household spends €2,500 at Christmas. This goes not only towards gifts, but also food and other festive treats.

“Whether you’re shopping online or on your local high street, think about whether the money you’re spending is contributing to creating jobs, supporting communities and showcasing Ireland’s success – particularly if you’re sending gifts overseas.” O'Connell said.
