Revenue officers seized 204 litres of alcohol, 1.9 kilos of Chesterfield-branded tobacco, and 1,600 L&M cigarettes at Dublin Port yesterday (27 February).
The wine, beer, spirit and tobacco products were found in two transit vans that arrived separately into Dublin Port, from France and Holyhead, respectively.
Revenue says that the seized goods have a total retail value of approximately €6,300, representing an estimated potential loss of €4,250 to the Exchequer.
Two men, both EU nationals, from Poland and Lithuania, respectively, were questioned in relation to the smuggled goods.
Revenue says that if businesses or members of the public have any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal alcohol or tobacco products, they can contact Revenue in confidence through Freephone number 1800 295 295.
