Revenue officers recently seized 107 litres of wine to the retail value of €1,490, when they searched a van that arrived into Rosslare Europort from Cherbourg, France.
Assisted by detector dog Alfie, 31,000 cigarettes, branded Kent, Marlboro, Vogue Slims and Lucky Strike were also discovered concealed throughout the vehicle.
A man was arrested at the scene and investigations are still ongoing.
Allied to this, in a separate intelligence-led operation 'focusing on the illicit tobacco trade' also conducted last week in Dundalk and Drogheda, Revenue officers also uncovered almost 54kg of tobacco and 12,130 cigarettes of various brands.
Reportedly, the combined retail value of the tobacco products seized was €50,750, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €40,750.
